Synopsis

Ascendance opens the DemonWars Saga's second trilogy, set in Corona a generation after the events of the first trilogy and Mortalis. A new cast of characters comes to the fore, most notably a son of the earlier heroes Elbryan and Pony who has been raised in secret away from the dangers that shaped his parents' lives, his true heritage hidden even from himself. Meanwhile, the elves who once trained Elbryan pursue their own long-term plans for Corona's future, plans that run into complications born of arrogance and susceptibility to darker influences among both elves and humans. The novel follows these threads as the hidden heir's upbringing and the elves' scheming set the stage for the second trilogy's unfolding conflict.
