Overview
The DemonWars Saga is R.A. Salvatore's epic-fantasy world of Corona, following the young monk Elbryan and his allies through an invasion of demonic forces and its long aftermath, across two trilogies and one connecting novel. The first trilogy, The Demon Awakens (1997), The Demon Spirit (1999), and The Demon Apostle (2000), follows the initial rise and defeat of the demon Bestesbulzibar's influence over Corona, while the connecting novel Mortalis (2000) and the second trilogy, Ascendance, Transcendence, and Immortalis (2001-2003), carry the setting's political and religious consequences forward with an expanded cast. Salvatore, already well known for his Forgotten Realms fiction featuring the drow ranger Drizzt Do'Urden, built Corona as his own wholly owned secondary world, giving him creative control the shared-universe Forgotten Realms work did not allow. The saga blends martial-arts-inflected combat, a hallmark of Salvatore's writing, with a setting-wide religious institution central to the plot.
