Synopsis

Attack of the Ninja Frogs, the second Dragonbreath book, finds Danny Dragonbreath generally dismissive of girls as a source of trouble, a view that is tested when Suki, a foreign-exchange salamander, arrives at school and quickly captivates his best friend Wendell. Danny's skepticism gives way to concern when ninja frogs appear determined to abduct Suki for reasons the boys do not yet understand, and he and Wendell decide they cannot simply stand by. Drawing on martial-arts moves they have picked up mostly from kung-fu movies, the two friends set out to intervene and protect Suki, a plan that pits two young reptilian and amphibian schoolboys against a shadowy, disciplined enemy clearly out of their league. As with the first book, the story combines illustrated comic panels with prose chapters to follow Danny's escalating attempts to play hero.

Notes

  • From the series record (Dragonbreath): Eleven-volume illustrated middle-grade chapter-book series (Dial Books, 2009-2016) following Danny Dragonbreath, a talking dragon attending a school otherwise full of reptiles and amphibians, whose comic misadventures regularly involve genuine magical creatures and events (fairies, were-creatures, ghosts, curses). Author-illustrated throughout; every volume mixes prose chapters with full-page comic-style illustrated sequences. Confirmed traditionally published from first release, not web-serialized.
