Synopsis

Curse of the Were-Wiener, the third Dragonbreath book, begins when Danny Dragonbreath and his friend Wendell come across a suspicious hot dog served in the school cafeteria, one that promptly bites Wendell during lunch. Soon afterward Wendell starts sprouting patches of back hair and behaving strangely, and the two friends become convinced he is turning into something they dub a "were-wiener." Determined to stop the transformation before it is too late, Danny and Wendell set out to confront the cafeteria's lunch ladies, whom they suspect of being connected to the tainted meat, and to track down a mysterious "alpha-wurst" they believe holds the key to reversing the curse. The hunt takes the pair through the stranger corners of their school as they try to solve the mystery before the contagion can spread to anyone else.

Notes

  • From the series record (Dragonbreath): Eleven-volume illustrated middle-grade chapter-book series (Dial Books, 2009-2016) following Danny Dragonbreath, a talking dragon attending a school otherwise full of reptiles and amphibians, whose comic misadventures regularly involve genuine magical creatures and events (fairies, were-creatures, ghosts, curses). Author-illustrated throughout; every volume mixes prose chapters with full-page comic-style illustrated sequences. Confirmed traditionally published from first release, not web-serialized.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
