Synopsis
Lair of the Bat Monster, the fourth Dragonbreath book, sends Danny Dragonbreath and his friend Wendell to Mexico to visit Danny's cousin, a bat specialist, in the hope of observing some of the region's more exotic bat species up close. The trip takes an unexpected turn when Danny is snatched up by a towering bat monster who intends to raise him as her own bat-monster offspring, leaving him a captive far from his family and friends. With Danny suddenly out of the picture, it falls to the normally less adventurous Wendell to step into an unfamiliar hero's role, tracking the creature back to her lair in an effort to bring his best friend home safely. The book continues the series' mix of comic-panel art and prose chapters to follow the rescue.

Notes
- From the series record (Dragonbreath): Eleven-volume illustrated middle-grade chapter-book series (Dial Books, 2009-2016) following Danny Dragonbreath, a talking dragon attending a school otherwise full of reptiles and amphibians, whose comic misadventures regularly involve genuine magical creatures and events (fairies, were-creatures, ghosts, curses). Author-illustrated throughout; every volume mixes prose chapters with full-page comic-style illustrated sequences. Confirmed traditionally published from first release, not web-serialized.
