Synopsis
It has been foretold that in the hour of Britain's greatest need King Arthur will return to rescue his people. In near-future Britain, the reprobate King Edward the Ninth has died by his own hand in Portugal, and the power-hungry Prime Minister, Thomas Waring, is close to realising his darkest plan, the total destruction of the British monarchy. In the Scottish Highlands, a mystical emissary named Mr Embries, better known as Merlin, informs a young former army captain, James Arthur Stuart, that he is next in line to the throne: he is not the commoner he always believed himself to be, but Arthur, the legendary King of Summer, reborn. The road to England's salvation is dangerous, for Arthur is not the only one to have returned from the mists of legend, and Merlin's magic is not the only sorcery to have survived the centuries. A sequel to the Pendragon Cycle set centuries after it.

Notes
- From the series record (Pendragon Cycle (Expanded)): Avalon (1999) relocates a reincarnated Arthur figure to a present-day setting, a structural departure from the five core novels; Aurelia (2025) is a recent further addition to the cycle.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
