Synopsis
The eighth entry in the Iron Druid Chronicles is a collection of ten original short stories rather than a single continuous novel, following Atticus O'Sullivan and his companions across a range of eras and settings as ancient gods and other supernatural forces intrude on the modern world. The stories include a heist inside an ancient Egyptian chamber, a dangerous encounter at a traveling carnival, an unlikely friendship with William Shakespeare that draws in a coven of witches, and a Gold Rush-era confrontation in San Francisco with a being embodying pure greed. Other tales bring in bogeymen, a vampire horde, restless wraiths and a trip into the realm of the dead, together sketching in episodes from Atticus's long past alongside more recent adventures.
