Synopsis
The ninth book in the Iron Druid Chronicles finds Atticus O'Sullivan targeted by a vampire clan determined to destroy him, a conflict sharpened by the fact that his former friend and lawyer, Leif, has turned against him and joined the enemy's side. As the vampires escalate their campaign, Atticus's allies face their own separate troubles: the revived archdruid Owen Kennedy runs into trouble with trolls, while Granuaile works to break free of a curse the Norse god Loki placed on her and to evade his supernatural means of tracking her. Atticus's search for a resolution to the vampire threat takes him across the globe and builds toward a confrontation in Rome with the vampire leader Theophilus.
