Synopsis
In the eighth book of The Hollows series, Rachel Morgan faces prosecution by her own kind after being denounced and shunned by Cincinnati's witch coven for dealing with demons and practicing black magic. With a best-case outcome of life imprisonment and a worst case involving forced genetic experimentation, Rachel must secure her freedom through an unlikely alliance with the wealthy businessman Trent Kalamack, the demon Algaliarept, and an ex-boyfriend turned thief. Unlike her earlier adventures against external supernatural threats, this time the danger comes from within her own community, and Rachel discovers that outmaneuvering witches who know exactly how she thinks requires help from allies she would never normally trust.
