Synopsis
Blood and Gold follows the ancient Nordic vampire Thorne as he wakes from centuries frozen in Arctic ice and seeks out Marius de Romanus, one of the vampire world's oldest and most knowledgeable members. Marius, in turn, recounts his own vast history to Thorne, beginning with his mortal life as a young Roman patrician who is captured and transformed by druids into the sworn guardian of Akasha and Enkil, the ancient progenitors of all vampires. The novel traces Marius's travels and experiences across the ancient and medieval world in that role, offering a sweeping account of vampire history that connects directly to the origins revealed earlier in the series.
