Synopsis
Narrated by Lestat, Blood Canticle follows the young Mayfair witch Mona as a mysterious illness tied to the birth of her daughter exposes a long-hidden secret about the Mayfair family's connection to the Taltos, a rare and ancient race whose existence has been kept quiet within the family for generations. As the revelation unsettles the extended Mayfair household, Lestat becomes increasingly entangled in the family's private affairs, drawn in partly out of fascination and partly through his growing feelings for the married witch Rowan. The novel weaves Lestat's own vampiric perspective into the Mayfairs' ongoing supernatural troubles, bridging Anne Rice's vampire and witch story lines.
