Synopsis

Bullet is the nineteenth novel in the Anita Blake series. In St. Louis, federal marshal and necromancer Anita Blake investigates a series of murders targeting supernatural victims across several species, a case that quickly proves to be more than an ordinary crime spree. The killings inflame existing tensions between Jean-Claude's vampire court and a rival vampire named Truth, while werewolf and wereleopard packs are drawn into the growing unrest over questions of territory and leadership. Behind the visible conflict, a secretive vampire governing body linked to the ancient vampire Belle Morte appears to be steering events from the shadows for its own purposes. As Anita works the case alongside allies including Nathaniel, Richard, Jean-Claude and Asher, she must try to keep the rival factions from erupting into open war while an old prophecy referring to a figure called the Lover of Death hangs over the investigation.
