Synopsis
Kim returns to Magic Moon two years after his first visit, summoned back by the wizard advisor Themistocles after the once-idyllic dream realm begins showing troubling signs of change. He finds the world he remembers fondly transformed for the worse, as machines and greed have crept into what was once a simple, magical way of life, souring even old companions who now seem embittered and changed. A darker mystery compounds the unease: children have begun vanishing from Magic Moon only to turn up mysteriously in the real world, with strange dwarves seemingly connected to the disappearances, though Kim quickly suspects the true cause runs deeper than anyone in Magic Moon yet realizes. Reunited with old friends but facing a realm far less innocent than the one he left, Kim sets out to uncover what is really poisoning the dreamland he once loved.

- From the series record (Magic Moon): The first two of the five-book Maerchenmond saga, and the only two so far published in English (2006 and 2007, originally 1982 and 1990 in German). A German schoolboy, Kim, is drawn into a dream realm called Magic Moon to save his sister's soul, and returns two years later to find the same realm corrupted by machines and greed.
