Synopsis
Demonic activity is rising in both the undercity and the surface streets of Averalaan. Servants of the Lord of the Hells are trying to complete rituals that would let their god return to the mortal world. Rath joins mages and agents of the Twin Kings in a secret fight against the threat. He also gives Jewel Markess and her group of orphans a letter of introduction to the head of House Terafin, one of the great merchant Houses of the city. It is there that Jewel's path will lead, and where she will begin to take on the place and the responsibility that her gifts and her loyalty to her den-kin demand of her.
