Synopsis
The peace of the Dominion is broken when traitors kill every member of the ruling Clan Leonne. The only surviving heir, a young man named Valedan who was never expected to rule, must prove that he deserves the crown. He enters the King's Challenge while his family's killers and their demonic allies plot his death and hunt him. Allies are scarce and the people who might help him have reasons of their own. Meanwhile the events in the Dominion continue to draw in the Empire to the north, where the members of House Terafin keep watch on the rising danger.
