Synopsis

Count Brass follows Dorian Hawkmoon after his adventures in the original Runestaff saga, as he and his family confront the return of old dangers connected to Count Brass, the protector of Kamarg. When Count Brass's ghost appears and Hawkmoon's former enemies, Baron Kalan and Taragorm, imprison his allies, a violent confrontation at Taragorm's clock-palace results in Taragorm's death, but also unleashes a Time Wind that hurls Hawkmoon backward through history. The disruption reshapes events so that Count Brass survives where he should not have, at a terrible cost: Hawkmoon loses his memories of his own children. The novel expands the Multiverse framework underlying Moorcock's Eternal Champion stories, tying Hawkmoon's personal tragedy to cosmic forces of time and fate that ripple beyond his own world.

Registered Expanded Canon rather than folded into Core, per the explicit reasoning already on file at Hawkmoon's own admission: this trilogy deepens/crosses over more explicitly with other Eternal Champion incarnations than the tightly-scoped original tetralogy -- its climax (The Quest for Tanelorn) involves Erekose and the entity that inhabited Elric's Stormbringer (Elric Saga). Resolves a previously flagged standing lead.
