Synopsis
Cruel Zinc Melodies, the twelfth Garrett P.I. novel, opens during a quiet TunFaire winter that is interrupted when Garrett's girlfriend Tinnie Tate and her friends arrive with a business proposition: forming an acting troupe for a new theater called The World, then under construction and financed by the wealthy beer baron Max Weider. The theater's construction has been plagued by three separate problems — break-ins, unnaturally persistent bugs, and ghostly disturbances — and Garrett's investigation reveals the bugs are the product of sorcerous experiments carried out by young mages from the Hill, whose meddling has stirred something ancient that has slumbered for eons beneath the construction site.
