Synopsis

Whispering Nickel Idols, the eleventh Garrett P.I. novel, finds Garrett, now a more established figure in TunFaire after years of freelance investigation, once again navigating the city's underworld and its diverse population of humans, elves, dwarves and other races. Garrett continues to rely on the Dead Man, the telepathic and telekinetic Loghyr corpse who serves as his business partner from the confines of his own house, for insight into the cases he takes on, while his half-elf friend Morley Dotes, his on-and-off romantic interest Tinnie Tate, and his housekeeper Dean remain fixtures of his day-to-day life. The novel continues the series' blend of hardboiled detective conventions with TunFaire's fantastical population, sending Garrett through the city's crime syndicates, controlled by figures like Chodo Contague, and its corrupt power structures as he works to resolve a new mystery.
