Synopsis

Cassandra Palmer is now the all-powerful Pythia, but many supernatural power players want her dead because they oppose an independent-minded chief clairvoyant. The Vampire Senate protects her, but only in exchange for an alliance with the master vampire Mircea, who has claimed her as his own. Even with that protection she faces danger from Apollo, the self-styled god who gives the Pythia her power and has turned against her. To save herself and the world, Cassie must confront her creator.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
