Synopsis

Cyador's Heirs, the seventeenth volume of the Saga of Recluce, is set decades after the fall of ancient Cyador, whose survivors have rebuilt their society in Cigoerne, a reclaimed desert territory within Hamor now facing hostile neighbors. Lerial, the second son of Duke Kiedron, lives in the shadow of his older brother Lephi, the designated heir, and expects to spend his life as a subordinate officer under Lephi's future rule. When he is fostered under the veteran Arms-Commander Altyrn to learn leadership and combat, Lerial begins to glimpse a wider world beyond Cigoerne's borders and discovers untapped potential within himself. As warfare erupts along Cigoerne's frontiers and he serves as an undercaptain in the Mirror Lancers defending the Verdheln forest, his previously unsuspected mastery of both Order and Chaos becomes essential to the realm's survival.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Saga of Recluce): One continuous, internally chronological world across many reading-order sub-arcs; the whole published run to date is Core Canon, per the author's own single ordered list. Ongoing; a further volume (Last of the First) is announced for 2026 and is not yet published, so it is not registered (Constitution Article 2).

Neighbouring works

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
