Synopsis
In Dark Days, Derek Landy's fourth Skulduggery Pleasant novel, Valkyrie Cain and her allies have spent nearly a year searching for the skull of Skulduggery Pleasant, who remains trapped in another realm following the previous book's events, while Valkyrie secretly develops necromancy, a discipline of magic regarded with suspicion by other sorcerers. Alongside the search, a coalition of villains previously defeated by Valkyrie and Skulduggery regroups under the sorcerer Dreylan Scarab, who forms the so-called Revengers' Club seeking payback against the pair. Valkyrie, aided by her boyfriend Fletcher Renn, a teleporter, must locate Skulduggery's original skull and find a way to rescue him from the world of the Faceless Ones, even as Scarab's coalition begins to move against them. The story follows Valkyrie balancing her secret necromantic training with the mounting danger posed by her mentor's absence and old enemies' return.
