Synopsis
The young ruler Lodrik, previously established as a reformer seeking to help his people, is manipulated by treacherous advisors and begins a dark transformation into a destructive warmonger, as the ancient prophecy of a returning evil age appears increasingly to be coming true. His corrupted reign creates mounting danger for the allies and loyal companions who once supported his rise to power, forcing them to reconsider where their loyalties truly lie. As tension spreads across Ulldart, resistance forces from the free lands begin to unite in response to Lodrik's growing, seemingly demonically influenced army. Their opposition builds toward a confrontation on the plains of Telmaran, where the accumulated conflicts of the earlier books threaten to erupt into open, continent-spanning war.
