Synopsis

Death Bringer, Derek Landy's sixth novel, opens with Valkyrie Cain attending her sister's christening before being drawn back into sorcerous conflict as dark forces, including the returning villain Lord Vile, gather around her. Melancholia St Clair, a disciple of necromancy with her own ambitions, emerges as a rival claimant to the role of the prophesied Death Bringer, a figure foretold to bring catastrophe, setting rival necromancer factions against one another. Valkyrie and Skulduggery Pleasant investigate the growing threat while Valkyrie contends with complications involving her boyfriend Fletcher Renn, the vampire Caelan, and her Reflection, a magical duplicate quietly living her ordinary life. As the necromancers' plans accelerate, Valkyrie and Skulduggery must determine who truly stands behind the emerging danger before the rival factions' designs can be carried out.
