Synopsis

The concluding volume of the original Rhapsody trilogy finds the skysinger Rhapsody and her companions Achmed and Grunthor pursuing the last traces of the murderous Rakshas in order to expose the hidden demon called F'dor that created it. Their investigation carries them across the transformed world they now call home, drawing on Rhapsody's musical gifts and her fire-forged blade as they close in on the demon's trail. As they gather what they need to confront F'dor directly, old alliances and enmities from the earlier books resurface, and the stakes grow from a personal hunt into something that threatens the wider world, building toward a direct confrontation between Rhapsody and the destructive force she and her companions have been tracking since the trilogy began.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Symphony of Ages): Publication order = internal chronology throughout, confirmed by the author directly (Fantasy-Faction 'Cauldron Interview', 2018): a first trilogy, two bridge novels, a second trilogy, and a capper. Corrects several commonly-repeated years: Destiny is 2001 (not 2000), The Merchant Emperor is 2014 (not 2010), The Hollow Queen is 2015 (not 2013).

Neighbouring works

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
