Synopsis
Divine Rivals, the first book in the Letters of Enchantment duology, follows eighteen-year-old Iris Winnow as she competes for a columnist position at the Oath Gazette against her cold, talented rival Roman Kitt, while a distant war between two awakened gods, the Underling deity Dacre and the Skyward deity Enva, looms over the city of Oath and touches both of their families. Iris, who supports herself and her struggling mother while her brother has gone missing at the front, begins writing letters to him that she slips behind her wardrobe; unknown to her, the letters cross into another place entirely and are answered by someone signing only as Carver, an anonymous correspondence that becomes an unexpected lifeline as the war draws closer to home.
