Synopsis
Ten years after the Demon War, something buried in a clearing near the Darkwood, a part of the Forest that is always dark, begins to wake. A border fort on the edge of the Darkwood goes silent after receiving a large shipment of gold. The Forest King sends a small force of sorcerers and soldiers, who find the fort deserted and soaked in blood, with magic showing that something malevolent is hidden inside. Duncan MacNeil and his company must first deal with greedy human enemies before they can face the inhuman threat.
