Synopsis
Dragon Wing, the opening novel of the Death Gate Cycle, is set on Arianus, a world of floating islands divided into the Low, Mid, and High realms, each inhabited by different peoples with little contact between the levels. In the Low Realm, an assassin named Hugh the Hand is hired to kill a mysterious child prince, Bane, a job complicated by the boy's own unnerving nature. At the same time, Haplo, an explorer belonging to the Patryn people, arrives in Arianus through a mystical gate on a reconnaissance mission for his powerful lord, observing the realm's fractured societies and ancient magical technology while keeping his true origins and purpose hidden from those he encounters.
