Synopsis
Dragons of a Lost Star, the second novel of the War of Souls trilogy, continues as the dragon overlord Beryl invades the elven kingdom of Silvanesti in search of a powerful ancient artifact. The wizard Palin Majere and the kender Tasslehoff Burrfoot, attempting to use the Device of Time Journeying, find it fails and traps them until the dark elf Dalamar rescues them at the Tower of High Sorcery. Gilthas, king of the Qualinesti, organizes his people's evacuation as danger mounts, while Silvanoshei, young king of Silvanesti, grows enamored with the mysterious Mina, whose influence and claimed connection to the One God continue to spread among the Knights of Neraka. Targonne, the Knights' ambitious leader, comes to view Mina as a political threat and begins plotting against her, even as elven matriarch Laurana works to organize her people's defenses against the advancing dragon forces.
