Synopsis

Drink Deep opens with Cadogan House under mounting internal and external strain, as growing hostility toward vampires in the wider city coincides with lawmakers pushing for a registration act that would leave Chicago's supernatural community even more exposed. Merit's attention is pulled toward an unexplained environmental disaster when the waters of Lake Michigan inexplicably turn black, threatening the city and hinting at a deeper, deliberate cause. Working alongside allies from both the vampire and human worlds, Merit investigates the source of the disaster, aware that the trouble brewing around Cadogan House may be connected to the wider crisis unfolding across the city. With political pressure on vampires intensifying and an unknown culprit still at large, Merit is pushed to determine whether the danger facing Chicago is only just beginning or nearing a breaking point.
