Overview
Chicagoland Vampires is a thirteen-novel urban fantasy series (2009-2017) following Merit, a Chicago graduate student who is turned into a vampire against her will after a near-fatal attack, and drawn into the political houses that govern the city's vampire community as a result. Beginning with Some Girls Bite (2009), Chloe Neill follows Merit from a reluctant outsider recruit at Cadogan House, one of Chicago's several vampire Houses, to a leading voice in vampire politics across the series' run, navigating supernatural intrigue, a long-running central romance, and recurring threats from rival factions and other supernatural groups sharing the city, including shapeshifters and sorcerers introduced across the thirteen books. The series blends legal-thriller-style vampire-House governance with more conventional urban-fantasy action, and Neill grounds it specifically in Chicago geography and civic detail rather than an unnamed generic city, giving the House politics a tangible sense of place across its eight-year publication run.
