Synopsis

Hard Bitten finds Merit navigating renewed pressure on Chicago's vampires as the city's mayor moves to disrupt vampire gatherings and public events, straining the fragile peace between vampires and the human population. At the same time, a dangerous new drug begins circulating through the supernatural community, with consequences that Merit, as Sentinel of Cadogan House, cannot ignore. Working again alongside her master, Ethan Sullivan, she investigates the source of the disruptions and the drug's spread, drawing her deeper into Chicago's supernatural underworld and forcing her to take on morally difficult tasks in order to protect her House. As external hostility toward vampires mounts and internal loyalties are tested, Merit must decide how far she is willing to go to restore order and keep Cadogan House standing amid the growing chaos.
