Synopsis
Empire of Storms, the fifth book in the Throne of Glass series, follows Aelin Galathynius as she pursues her claim to the throne of Terrasen, having reclaimed her true identity. She finds her path blocked when Terrasen's lords refuse to recognize her rule, threatening war unless she meets their demands, and must work to win their loyalty while the wider continent of Erilea begins to fracture around her. Joined by allies including Rowan Whitethorn, Aedion Ashryver, Lysandra, and Dorian Havilliard, Aelin sets out to locate a powerful artifact known as the Lock, hidden deep within the Stone Marshes, which may be able to seal away the growing threat posed by the demon lord Erawan and his Valg forces. As old enemies and uncertain allies cross her path, Aelin must decide how far she is willing to go to unite a fractured continent against the coming war.

Notes
- From the series record (Throne of Glass): Tower of Dawn is an interquel running concurrently with events late in Empire of Storms/before Kingdom of Ash, hence internal chronology 5.5 rather than a plain integer, following a companion-volume convention already used elsewhere in this canon.
