Synopsis
Exile's Return concludes the Conclave of Shadows trilogy, picking up with the defeated Duke of Olasko banished from his homeland and transported by magic to a distant part of the world. Forced to make his way home through unfamiliar lands, he falls in with companions who are transporting a cache of mysterious black armor said to hold dangerous power, and the group's journey takes them to remote mountain temples sacred to the gods. What they learn there convinces the exiled duke that the armor represents a threat far greater than his own personal quest for redemption, compelling him to seek out the Conclave of Shadows, the very organization that once destroyed his ambitions. Their combined investigation ultimately uncovers a vast underground cache of similar armor, hinting at a danger to Midkemia on a scale none of them had anticipated.
