Synopsis
War has come to Middren as the fire god Hseth leads an unstoppable army south, burning everything in its path, and the kingdom's survival depends on uniting former enemies against a threat none of them can face alone. Elo must navigate an uneasy, complicated alliance with Arren, his king and one-time closest friend, whose choices have already cost them dearly. Inara sets out aboard the ship Silverswift alongside her mother, still coming to terms with newly emerging powers she does not fully understand or control. Meanwhile Kissen, the hardened godkiller whose losses set the whole conflict in motion, must decide which future, and which people, she is actually willing to fight and sacrifice for as the trilogy moves toward its climax.
