Synopsis
David Rain and Zanna are working on an Arctic research project when David notices that the story he is writing has started to mirror events in his own life. He cuts the trip short and returns home to Wayward Crescent, where old legends of bears and dragons are stirring and a strange fire star has appeared. An old enemy, the sibyl Gwilanna, is on her way back, and she has plans for the last dragon, Gawain, who has rested in stone for centuries. Lucy is taken from the Pennykettle house, and Zanna's fate becomes uncertain. The action moves from the Pennykettle home to a research station, a monastery and an Inuit community in the frozen north.
