Synopsis
Flyte is the second novel in Angie Sage's Septimus Heap series, picking up with Septimus now serving as apprentice to the ExtraOrdinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand in the Castle. When his estranged elder brother Simon Heap, drawn into dark magic, kidnaps their sister Jenna, Septimus and his companions Nicko and Wolf Boy set out in pursuit aboard the Dragon Boat, a chase that escalates into aerial combat over land and sea. Along the way Septimus recovers the long-lost Flyte charm, a powerful magical object central to their efforts to catch Simon, while a stone Jenna had once found unexpectedly hatches into a dragon, Spit Fyre, who becomes bound to Septimus. Meanwhile Marcia contends with a separate menace as the reassembled remains of the sorcerer DomDaniel stir once more, threatening the Castle even as the siblings race to save Jenna and confront Simon's new allegiances.
