Overview
Septimus Heap is a comic fantasy series by Angie Sage about a seventh son of a seventh son raised as a wizard's apprentice in the Castle, told across seven novels published between 2005 and 2013. The series opens with Magyk (2005), in which the infant Septimus is believed dead and a foundling girl, Jenna, is raised in his place, and follows the tangled consequences of that switch as both children grow up amid the Castle's magical bureaucracy, rogue wizards, and hidden royal lineage. Later volumes, Flyte, Physik, Queste, Syren, Darke, and Fyre, widen the setting to include time travel, rival magical traditions, and a long-running struggle against the villainous Necromancer DomDaniel. The series was illustrated throughout by Mark Zug and became a bestseller in both the UK and US, spawning several companion volumes and short stories set in the same Castle world.
