Synopsis
Syren is the fifth novel in the Septimus Heap series. Septimus brings Jenna and Beetle to the Port for what is meant to be a restful trip, but the group instead becomes stranded on a remote, storm-battered island after their boat is wrecked. There they meet Syrah Syara, a girl who has lived alone on the island for years and who, they discover, is possessed by a malevolent spirit known as the Syren, capable of luring sailors to their doom. At the same time, the ghost Tertius Fume is secretly orchestrating a plot involving captive jinnee warriors that threatens catastrophe for the Castle far away. Cut off from help and facing the island's dangers, Septimus and his friends must find a way to free Syrah from the Syren's influence while also uncovering and countering Tertius Fume's scheme before it can be set in motion.
