Synopsis
Darke is the sixth novel in the Septimus Heap series. The Castle is suddenly engulfed by a spreading domain of supernatural darkness, cutting off light and trapping many of its inhabitants inside, a catastrophe created by Septimus's old rival Merrin Meredith through forbidden Darke magic. Among those caught within the domain is the ghost Alther Mella, who is wrongly banished to the Darke Halls in the chaos that follows. Septimus, alongside Marcia Overstrand and his friend Beetle, sets out to penetrate the Darke domain itself, hoping that reaching Alther in the Halls will help them find a way to reverse the spell and free everyone trapped by it, all while the malevolent Darke Dragon and Merrin's growing power make every step through the domain increasingly perilous.
