Angie Sage is an English children's fantasy author born June 20, 1952, in the Thames Valley region of England, and raised across the Thames Valley, London, and Kent. Her father, a publisher, encouraged her creativity from a young age by supplying her with blank books to write and illustrate. She initially began studying medicine before redirecting her education toward art school in Leicester, where she focused on graphic design and illustration. Sage built early skills as an illustrator and graphic designer before transitioning into full-time authorship. Her debut novel, Magyk, launched the bestselling Septimus Heap series, which grew to seven main books and several supplementary titles published between 2005 and 2013. She followed this with the TodHunter Moon trilogy (2014–2016), a spin-off continuing the Septimus Heap world, and the earlier Araminta Spook series, seven humorous ghost-story novels for younger readers published from 2006 to 2015. More recently she wrote the Enchanter's Child series (2020–2022). Across her body of work, Sage has become known for blending whimsical magic systems, inventive world-building, and accessible humor aimed at middle-grade readers. She has two children and continues to write fantasy fiction for young audiences.
