Synopsis
Physik is the third novel in the Septimus Heap series. When Silas Heap accidentally disturbs an ancient seal, he releases the five-hundred-year-old spirit of Queen Etheldredda, who begins working to restore her lost power from beyond the grave. Her scheming draws Septimus into the past: he is sent backward through time to become the apprentice of a young, ambitious alchemist named Marcellus Pye, learning arts of physik and transformation far removed from ordinary magic. In the present, a deadly plague spreads through the Castle, secretly caused by a creature under Etheldredda's control, and as the sickness worsens, Jenna and Nicko attempt to follow Septimus through time to bring him home, only to become stranded themselves, with Jenna mistaken in the past for a different lost princess entirely.
