Synopsis
Second book of the Black Jewels trilogy, following young Jaenelle as she grows toward her destiny while dark forces conspire against her and her protectors. Having survived the events of the first novel, Jaenelle continues to come into her power under the watch of those sworn to guard her, even as rival factions within the Dark Kingdom's hierarchy maneuver against her and against the men who protect her. The uneasy balance of loyalty, politics and old grudges established earlier in the series grows more strained as Jaenelle's importance to the realm's future becomes ever harder to hide.
