Synopsis

When the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork requests that a "Great Wizzard" be sent to the distant Agatean Empire, a clerical mix-up over the wording on his hat leads Unseen University's faculty to dispatch the hapless Rincewind instead, teleporting him there in a scheme involving a cannon. In Agatea, Rincewind reunites with his old acquaintance Cohen the Barbarian, now leading a band of elderly warriors called the Silver Horde who intend to seize the Empire's throne for themselves, and learns that his former traveling companion Twoflower has been imprisoned there, his innocent travel writing about Ankh-Morpork having unintentionally inspired a youth protest movement known as the Red Army.
