Synopsis

Isabella Nagg and the Pot of Basil, published by Oliver Darkshire in 2025, opens the Household Gramarye series. Isabella Nagg lives a dreary, dissatisfied life on a farm in East Grasby, worn down by her bumbling husband's poor decisions and her judgmental neighbors' constant scrutiny of everything she does. When her husband brings home a stolen spell book instead of anything remotely useful, Isabella, rather than reporting the theft or demanding he return it, sees an unexpected opportunity to finally explore the magic that has always been kept out of her reach. Accompanied by a grouchy feline companion who did not ask to be dragged along, Isabella sets out into a whimsical world of talking creatures, wizards, and supernatural dangers, determined to make something more of her life than the farm ever offered her.

Notes

  • From the series record (Household Gramarye): Book 1 (2025): an unhappy homemaker in the village of East Grasby accidentally acquires a wizard's stolen grimoire and starts casting spells of her own, in a comic fantasy drawing loosely on Boccaccio's Decameron. Book 2 (2026): a further Household Gramarye volume. Both published; no 3rd volume announced yet.
