Synopsis
The Devil and Mrs. Gooch, published by Oliver Darkshire in 2026, continues the Household Gramarye series, set in the storm-drenched city of Verdigris, where sorcerers, household spirits called hobs, and even an undead hotel coexist uneasily. The ruthless Gwendolyn Gooch kidnaps building hobs, magical caretakers responsible for keeping structures standing, to force them into retrofitting her new development, Gooch Towers, as part of a scheme to expand her wealth and control over the city. In protest, the free hobs still at large go on strike, letting their own buildings fall into disrepair and driving desperate residents into Gooch Towers, where they are made to surrender their valuables just to find shelter. Professor Green, a rare Green Man wizard, returns to the city with a complete set of the Household Gramarye texts and their guardian, Mrs. Bobkins, even as the Devil himself grows fascinated by Gwendolyn's ambition.
