Synopsis
The second Heirs of Saint Camber novel (Del Rey, 10 November 1992) opens as King Alroy lies dying and summons his twin brother Javan from an abbey to Rhemuth. Javan proves he never took permanent vows and is proclaimed heir with the help of allies, some of them secret Deryni. He then faces escalating opposition from the great lords, including a duel, the abduction of his brother Rhys Michael, and an attack on the Healer Oriel. His party is ambushed by disguised soldiers while heading to Master Revan's cult, and Javan and Charlan are killed. The lords seize control in Rhemuth and force Rhys Michael to become king under drugs and threats.
