Synopsis

Last Stand of Dead Men, Derek Landy's eighth book, opens with Valkyrie Cain learning that a dark warlock named Charivari is recruiting witches ahead of an approaching war between rival Sanctuaries, while a mysterious figure with golden eyes surfaces as a further threat, apparently able to erase himself from other people's memories. Skulduggery Pleasant reforms his old group the Dead Men to meet the danger, and Valkyrie works alongside her independent Reflection, Stephanie, and her ex-boyfriend Fletcher Renn. At the center of the unfolding crisis is the Accelerator, an unstable magical device that, left unchecked, threatens an explosion of magic capable of ending humanity, and Valkyrie and her allies move to shut it down. All the while, Valkyrie's alter-ego Darquesse continues to pull at her, as hidden forces within the Sanctuary itself work against her and her allies.
