Synopsis
Luck in the Shadows opens the Nightrunner series by introducing Alec of Kerry, a young hunter wrongly imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. In prison he meets his cellmate Seregil of Rhiminee, a noble-born spy, thief and rogue who arranges their escape and takes Alec on as an apprentice in his clandestine trade. As the two begin working together, Seregil's mind begins to deteriorate under mysterious circumstances even as a treasonous plot against the reigning Queen starts to unfold around them. Alec, still new to Seregil's world of secrets and intrigue, must help uncover the conspiracy threatening the crown while trying to understand what is happening to his new mentor.
