Synopsis

Luck of the Wheels, published by Robin Hobb under the name Megan Lindholm in 1989, concludes the Windsingers series. Ki, now traveling as an independent teamster, accepts a contract to transport a disagreeable young passenger nicknamed Goat to a distant town, a job that seems straightforward enough despite her new client's unpleasant temperament. As Ki, Vandien, and their charge make their way along the road, they find themselves drawn into an uprising already brewing in the region they are crossing, well beyond the simple haulage job Ki originally agreed to. Forced to navigate both a volatile passenger and the escalating unrest around them, Ki and Vandien must rely on the hard-won partnership built across the earlier books to get themselves, and Goat, through a journey that has turned far more dangerous than expected.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Windsingers): Also known as the Ki and Vandien Quartet, published under the author's Megan Lindholm pen name; her 4th universe in this canon, alongside Realm of the Elderlings, the Soldier Son Trilogy (both as Robin Hobb), and Wizard of the Pigeons (also as Megan Lindholm). Confirmed genuinely separate from all three: no shared characters, setting, or continuity.
