Synopsis
Allie joins the Authority, the secret group that enforces the rules of magic in Portland, just as it faces conflict from within. Her Soul Complement, Zayvion Jones, is in danger, so she enters the realm of Death to retrieve his soul, giving up her own magic to do it. Meanwhile, technology built by her villainous father may have made magic portable for everyone, including the Veiled, evil ghosts who want the reusable magic disks to gain immortality. Allie has to deal with life without magic of her own while the fight over the disks comes to a head.
